Foreign Vice-Minister Adomėnas confers Lithuania's Diplomatic Star on the U.S. Special Envoy for Belarus

We admire her charisma, professionalism and dedication to our common Lithuanian and American goals of freedom and democracy. Thank you, Ambassador, for your excellent cooperation and personal contribution to the strategic partnership between the United States and Lithuania," Adomėnas said when presenting the award.

Fisher gained valuable career experience while serving in assignments at U.S. embassies in Tbilisi, Kyiv and Moscow, tours at the National Security Council, and the Bureau of European Affairs, which is part of the United States Department of State and which helped her in the Private Office of the Secretary General of NATO, also when she worked as the Deputy Chief of the U.S. Mission to NATO, and, later, as the U.S. Special Envoy for Belarus. Fisher firmly believed that even if there was no possibility to reside in Minsk, the U.S. representative had to relocate to a new place in close proximity to Belarus. It is this belief that has led to an unprecedented decision of the U.S. Department of State to relocate her to Vilnius as the U.S. Special Envoy for Belarus, a position for which she holds ambassadorial rank.
